Designation of a Rapporteur
Mr. Percival Mofokeng (South Africa) was designated Rapporteur of the Committee.
Consideration of the draft declaration [11]
The Chairperson made a statement.
The Secretary of the Committee read out revisions to the draft declaration which had been agreed to during informal consultations.
Statements were made by the representatives of France, Greece, the United States of America, Australia, Belgium, Turkey, Uganda, Germany, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Morocco.
The ex-officio Vice-President of the Conference and the Director of the Division for Social Policy and Development responded to points raised.
The Committee then approved the revisions to its draft declaration.
General discussion
Statements were made by the following observers for non-governmental organizations: World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and World Council of Churches.

Fifth meeting

H.E. Mr. Juli Minoves-Triquell (Andorra), Chairperson of Working Group III, opened the meeting.
The representatives of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the International Labour Organization and the United Nations Children´s Fund made introductory statements.
Statements were made by the representatives of Brazil, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Syrian Arab Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Jordan, Latvia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Canada, India, Egypt, Namibia, the Philippines, the Holy See, Ghana, the Bahamas and Fiji.
Statements were also made by the observers for the Center for International Studies, the World Organisation of Former Pupils of Catholic Education,the International Movement of Catholic Students, Brahma Kumaris, the International Catholic Organization, the Catholic International Education Office, the Portuguese Scout Association and the American Mothers of America, non-governmental organizations accredited to the Conference.
