Third Web for Development Conference

Overview

The Third Annual Web4Dev Conference was organized by the United Nations Department of Public Information and the Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID) in collaboration with a number of other Organizations. It was held in conjunction with the 18th Annual Conference and Exhibit of AIT Global, a global association of information technology professionals.

These events were held at UN Headquarters in New York from Monday 20 November to Wednesday 22 November 2006.

The Global Alliance for ICT and Development sessions were held on Monday. The Web4Dev sessions were held on Tuesday and Wednesday. Participants were invited to attend both.

The conferences and exhibits were open at no-charge to interested participants from the UN and its agencies, including participants from other duty stations, government, business, industry experts, academia, non-profit and civil society attendees with an interest in the web and information and communications technology for development. A full agenda was prepared which featured speakers on such topics as
