Euphoria has come a long way since first taking the stage in 1989. With its music set to Hindi and Urdu lyrics, this premium, six-member "Hindrock" band has been giving Indian music lovers a pulsating mix of rock, rock and roll and retro rock. Their first album Dhoom in 1998, with its chart-topping numbers Dhoom, Tum and Sha-na-na, sold thousands of copies all over India. They have succeeded in "making waves" on the festival circuits and are enjoying the growing patronage of Indian listeners.
On May 17, 2000, Euphoria became the first Indian band to participate in the prestigious annual Beale Street Music Festival held in Memphis, Tennessee. Every year, this festival features a country, and after carrying out a survey of the rock scene in India, they selected Euphoria. The band believes that it is the melody of their music that impressed American audiences. "The adulation we got goes to show that any song which is melodious can easily catch the pulse of the audience," said Palash Sen, better known as "Polly", Euphoria's lead vocalist. Euphoria's latest one-song album release is Mantra, and it revolves around the eternal theme of love.
Current members of the band include: Christopher Powell (Chris) on the drums; medical doctor Palash Sen - vocals; Debajyoti Bhaduri (DJ) - bass; Gaurav Misra (Gary) - guitar; Hitesh Madan (Rikki) - guitar; and Benjamin Pinto - keyboard.
