Feedback to the postcards

In Observance of the International Peace Day, the Peace and Security (DPI) sent out postcards to the field asking people from different walks of life to tell us what they would do for peace.

The Responses were overwelcomingly. Here are some samples:

Get rid of all disturbances and bring them back to standard system of understanding. Negotiate. Meet mandate of poverty aleviation. Get them being engaged in jobs or employment. Care by proper government and bring improvement for a better future."

Ibrahim B. Kamara (15), Iunsar, Sierra Leone, Africa

"God bles the International Day of Peace. We believe that for peace should prevail in a community or country, we should first encourage the children of our land. That will bring peace in our country!"

Decirie E. Jones (16), Kosson Town, Sierra Leone, Africa

"My own idea for peace is that we should interact with one another, love one another. My second point is that our community should organise sports activities like soccer, athletics to name but a few. My third point is that our parents should allow us to have fun with others like going to Jam (dance)...This is my short idea."

Sarah Sesay Deen (15), Freetown, Sierra Leone, Africa

"We want to be happy in Sierra Leone and also to have food in our country and the children were to go to school. So, this is the peace I need in Sierra Leone."

Donald Reffell (16), Freetown, Sierra Leone, Africa

"First thanks to the UN for making possible for us students to assemble here today. My idea for peace is that, with peace people can get together as one, experiencing young people of today. Also it helps the country to develop and raches the demand of the people. Thanks."
