Event Name: International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
Event Description: Every year, the world commemorates the anniversary of the 1960 Sharpeville massacre, where dozens of peaceful demonstrators were shot by police in apartheid South Africa for protesting racially discriminatory laws.

Activities: A social media campaign using #FightRacism on Twitter will promote the "Let's Fight Racism" website (http://www.un.org/en/letsfightracism) in six languages, the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, and possibly a Q&A with Mutuma Ruteere (Kenya), the UN Special Rapporteur on Racism.
