on Natural Resources - Terms of Reference

The Committee on Natural Resources was established by Economic and Social
Council decision 1992/218 in accordance with General Assembly resolution 46/235
on the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic,
social and related fields. The Committee is composed of 24
government-nominated experts acting in their personal capacity. Members are
elected for four year terms by the Economic and Social Council on the
recommendation of national governments. Seats are allocated on a regional
basis on follows: six representatives from Africa; five from Asia; four from
Latin American and the Caribbean; three from Eastern Europe; and six from
Western Europe and Other states. The Committee meets biennially for two weeks.
