CSD-17 Partnerships Fair
What: 17th session of the Commission on
Sustainable Development (CSD-17)
When: 4 to 15 May 2009
Where: UN headquarters in New York, USA
The Partnerships Fair is part of the official Programme
of Activities for CSD-17. The Fair is organized to
provide registered “Partnerships for Sustainable
Development” with the opportunity to showcase progress,
network, identify partners, and create synergies between
complementary initiatives and finding opportunities for
replicability and scaling up.
The CSD-17 Partnerships Fair
will mainly feature:
- “Partnerships in Practice” Interactive
discussions: Sessions organized by the Partnerships
Team to generate open dialogue on practical issues
related to partnerships in the CSD-16/17 thematic
cluster and on issues common to all partnerships.
- Partnership training courses: Interactive sessions that offer valuable tools, resources, examples and practical experiences on establishing, developing and maintaining effective partnerships as collaborative mechanisms for more effective delivery of sustainable development goals and objectives.
- Partnerships Information Desks: A small number of desks will be available upon request to CSD
registered partnerships. Partnership representatives
will be able to display and distribute information
related to their partnership and be available to
discuss their work with CSD-17 delegates. The desks
will be located in the ‘neck area’ (situated in the
corridor between the Vienna Café and the elevators in
the 1st basement of the Conference Building at UN-HQ).
As CSD-17 will have a thematic focus on Africa,
Agriculture, Desertification, Drought, Land and Rural
Development, we are particularly encouraging
partnerships working in these areas to take advantage of
the CSD Partnerships Fair activities to share their
experiences.
The CSD 17 preliminary Partnerships Fair Guidelines
and
request forms are now available.
Who should attend: All CSD participants, including
representatives of Governments, UN system organizations,
other intergovernmental organizations and accredited
major groups, are welcome to attend.
Access to the UN premises: Participants must ensure that
they are accredited to the CSD (through a Government,
Inter-governmental organization (IGO), or Major Group).
