WSSD-accredited NGOs and other major groups active in the
post-WSSD implementation cycle are advised to apply immediately for
consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, if they
intend to stay engaged in the future implementation cycles of the CSD.

The NGO Committee, the intergovernmental body that reviews and
eventually grants status to applying NGOs, meets twice a year and
deals with a large number of applications: early submission is
strongly recommended, as the process may take one to two years.
Applications received before 1 June 2007 will be reviewed in 2008 by
the NGO Committee and submitted to ECOSOC for final approval.

Information on how to apply for ECOSOC status, including the
application form, can be found on the NGO Section
website.
