With the increasing recognition of the
important role played by
major groups as partners in the WSSD follow-up, the CSD
continues to explore innovative formats for their participation.
Substantive exchange between major group representatives and
government officials, including Ministers, is now integrated
throughout the various official sessions of the CSD, including
interactive discussions within the High-level Segment. Major
groups prepare papers addressing the thematic areas on the CSD
agenda and are invited to contribute to and participate in the
Partnership Fair, the Learning Centre and the many side events
that take place during CSD Sessions.
We welcome your contribution to the
seventeenth
session of the Commission on Sustainable Development to be
taking place at UN Headquarters in New York.
In preparation to CSD-17, the Farmers,
Scientific and Technological Community and Business and
Industry drafted a concept note to stimulate the
discussion on a possible common approach focusing on
People-centred and knowledge-based agriculture: a new
paradigm for agricultural development.
