Major groups contribute to the CSD
process by submitting various types of written inputs. A
mix of reports on the role of major groups - prepared by
the Secretariat - and contributions by the major groups
can be accessed in the
Official Reports section of this site.
For easy reference, you can also
access excerpts from CSD Decisions and GA Resolutions
relevant to the inclusion of major groups in the
implementation of sustainable development and in the CSD
process.
Another way to inform the CSD about
major groups' work and experiences around the world is
through collections of case studies focusing on progress
in the achievement of sustainable development. These case
studies are produced as
background documents for the official CSD session.
A
web-based case study database is also available
and searchable, and major groups are invited to submit
their experiences by logging in the
e-DESA portal.
From 1997 to 2001, the Commission on Sustainable Development
(CSD), through its Secretariat, recorded
successful efforts to implement
Agenda 21.
The success stories were collected and presented to
the CSD to help share positive experiences and encourage information
about sustainable development. They represented a way to recognize the
commitment demonstrated by a diversity of major groups including, UN
Agencies, Governments as well as partnerships between them.
