Rather than participating in only one designated multi-stakeholder dialogue, as in the past, major groups are now being invited to participate in all sessions pertaining to the review exercise, which may include panel discussions, keynote speakers addressing a priority topic, presentations, and partnership discussions. Major groups could be called upon during such interactive discussions to comment on presentations, ask questions, participate in panels, and serve as resource persons. Furthermore, major group experts and practitioners active in the thematic areas of water, sanitation and human settlements will be invited to share their experiences and lessons learned, and exchange practical approaches in implementation. 

In light of the many possible entry points for discussion, the major groups organizing partners have prepared, in consultation with their networks, the following nine discussion papers. These discussion papers will form the basis of major groups review inputs and participation in the various CSD-12 activities.
