As the first Review Session, CSD-12 marks a new era of
Implementation
Cycles, the CSD Bureau and Secretariat continue to explore ways to
enhance major groups’ participation in the CSD process. In this regard,
major groups’ participation in CSD-12 was integrated throughout the
various activities through a
series of entry points.
New and innovative formats were developed for
stimulating more productive dialogue and inspiring collaborative efforts
among governments, major groups and the UN system, building on lessons
learned from past traditions and practices.
Statements by major group representatives were interspersed throughout
the CSD-12 discussions at the discretion of the Chair, with a view
to allowing the input from major groups to be appropriately reflected
within the overall framework, and in accordance with the established
procedures of the CSD.
Major groups also participated in the activities related to the
Partnership Fair, the Learning Centre and Side Events.
