Major groups contribution to and
participation in the CSD prior to the introduction of the
multi-stakeholder dialogue sessions was characterized by a series of
interactions, including:

executing projects and activities highlighting the role of major group
sectors (special days, collections of case studies)

reading statements in plenary meetings
-
influencing the decision-making processes through lobbying
-
strategizing through issue-based caucuses or major group sectors
-
other informal contacts with delegations such as holding briefings,
press conferences, and side events.
