Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD)

Review Session: CSD-14

Learning Centre

The Learning Centre was introduced on an experimental basis during the 11th Session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) and has now become a regular feature of CSD sessions. Its purpose is to provide teaching and training at a practical level on various aspects of sustainable development to further implementation of Agenda 21 and the JPOI.

All participants in CSD sessions are welcome to join the courses, which are offered in three-hour sessions during regular meetings hours (10:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 18:00) in the United Nations conference area. Course instructors use a variety of teaching techniques, including small working groups, case studies and lecture formats, and most courses include question and answer periods and interactive discussions. Participants have expressed enthusiasm for the Learning Centre and feedback on individual courses has been positive.
