  Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD)

CSD-12:  Learning Centre

The Learning Centre is being held as part of the regular sessions of the Commission of Sustainable Development to further implementation of Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation. It is aimed at facilitating teaching/training at a practical level on various aspects of sustainable development. Courses are designed to impart useful/practical knowledge so as to enable participants to better implement Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation in their home countries, and they cover areas relevant to CSD themes.

Courses are offered in three-hour sessions during regular meeting hours (10 am—1pm and 3-6 pm) in the United Nations conference area (Conference Room D) in small seminars of 10 to 20 or larger lectures of up to 60. Courses are open to all CSD participants and, while pre-registration is encouraged, walk-in participants will be welcome space permitting.

This year the Learning Centre includes a specific focus on water, sanitation and human settlements with a wide range of participating institutions including Harvard University, Columbia University/Earth Institute, the World Bank, the Smithsonian and UNDP’s The Institute@ and the GEF-sponsored IWLearn. Course offerings are now available on the link below as well as information on how to pre-register.
