Date of birth: November 29, 1949, Aboriginal ancestry(Metis)

Education: Graduated 1975 from University of Alberta with B.A.(Special),major in History.

Employment:
Member of the Canadian diplomatic foreign service of the Government of Canada since July 1975. Served in a number of posts including London, Warsaw, Bridgetown, Belgrade, Hong Kong and Manila.

Experience with international indigenous issues:

April 1998 - present
Director, Division of Aboriginal and Circumpolar Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa, Canada.

September 1994 - April 1998
Departmental Coordinator, International Aboriginal Affairs, within the Human Rights Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

March 1984- September 1985
Returned to the capital to establish the first desk responsible for international indigenous issues in the then Department of External Affairs. In that role, participated in the early years of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations.

January 2002 - present
Elected member of United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (3-year term)
