"Policies for achieving the Millennium Development goals in the ECE Region: Reducing extreme income disparities.” 

ECE, in cooperation with the UNDP and the ILO, will hold an informal seminar on "Policies for achieving the Millennium Development goals in the ECE Region:  Reducing extreme income disparities.” 

The seminar is designed to constitute part of ECE's contribution to the follow-up to the Millennium Summit and seeks to address some of the topical issues related to poverty reduction in the ECE region.  The problems of poverty and income disparities are most acute in the countries of southeastern Europe and the CIS, the same countries that have experienced the greatest difficulties in their economic and political transformation and are lagging behind in the implementation of market reforms.
