At its At its fortieth session, the Commission for Social Development considered two topics under its agenda and multi-year programme of work, namely the priority theme “Integration of social and economic policy"; and the review of relevant United Nations plans and programmes of action pertaining to the situation of social groups.The Commission adopted a set of agreed conclusions on the priority theme that contain analysis and recommendations for action to promote the integration of social and economic policy at the national and international level. In connection with its review of plans and programmes of action pertaining to the situation of social groups, the Commission agreed on resolutions on:
1) Preparations for the observance of the tenth anniversary of the International Year of the Family;
2) Further promotion of equalization of opportunities by, for and with persons with disabilities and protection of their human rights; and
3) Comprehensive and integral international convention to promote and protect the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities.
