Internal migration

Internal migrations are relevant for socio-economic development for several reasons including the redistribution of the population of a country which has profound consequences for, inter alia, allocation of public funds. The two Manuals of this cluster review censuses and surveys as sources of data on internal migration, explain indicators and measurement techniques for estimating flows and stocks of migrants and projection methods applicable to regions of countries, urban versus rural areas or groups of geographical areas. The projections for a single region of a country are introduced along with the preparation of a set of consistent projections for all the regions of a country. The cluster is related to the cluster Population projections.
