Policy encouraging the return of nationals refers to Government policies encouraging the return of nationals who have emigrated.

(1) These States have made a declaration in accordance with article 1, section B(1) of the 1951 Convention to the effect that the words "events occurring before 1 January 1951" in article 1, section A, should be understood to mean "events occurring in Europe before 1 January 1951". All other States parties apply the Convention without geographical limitation. Malta and Turkey have expressly maintained their declaration of geographical limitation with regard to the 1951 Convention upon acceding to the 1967 Protocol.

(3) The United Kingdom extended application of the Convention to the following territories for the conduct of whose international relations the Government of the United Kingdom is responsible: Channel Islands, Falkland Islands (Malvinas), Isle of Man, St. Helena. The United Kingdom declared that its accession to the Protocol did not apply to Jersey, but extended its application to Montserrat.
