The United Nations Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, in collaboration with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), organized a one-day meeting on the demographic impact of HIV/AIDS on 10 November 1998. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss current and future research activities on the demographic impact of HIV/AIDS.
