GENERAL EXCHANGE OF VIEWS ON THE MAIN CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF REGIONAL PREPARATORY CONFERENCES Results of the regional conferences and other international conferences Note by the Secretariat 1. In its resolution 36/8 on the preparations for the Fourth World Conference on Women: Action for Equality, Development and Peace, the Commission on the Status of Women decided that the documentation for the Conference would include a report of the Secretary-General on the outcome of regional preparatory meetings for the Conference and relevant sections of final documents emanating from other major United Nations Conferences. 2. The Conference will have before it for its information the following: (a) Jakarta Declaration and Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women in Asia and the Pacific adopted by the Second Asian and Pacific Ministerial Conference on Women in Development, held at Jakarta from 7 to 14 June 1994 (E/CN.6/1995/5/Add.1); (b) African Platform of Action adopted by the Fifth Regional Conference on Women, held at Dakar from 16 to 23 November 1994 (E/CN.6/1995/5/Add.2); (c) Regional Programme of Action for the Women of Latin America and the Caribbean, 1995-2001, emanating from the Sixth Regional Conference on the Integration of Women into the Economic and Social Development of Latin America and the Caribbean, held at Mar del Plata, Argentina from 20 to 25 September 1994 (E/CN.6/1995/5/Add.3). The discussion of the Regional Programme of Action was completed at a meeting held in Santiago, Chile from 16 to 18 November 1994, when it was officially adopted; (d) Regional Platform for Action - Women in a Changing World - Call for Action from an ECE Perspective, adopted at the High-level Regional Preparatory Meeting of the Economic Commission for Europe, held at Vienna from 17 to 21 October 1994 (E/CN.6/1995/5/Add.4); (e) Arab Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women to the Year 2005, adopted at the Arab Regional Preparatory Meeting, held at Amman on 9 and 10 November 1994 (E/CN.6/5/Add.5); (f) Excerpts from Agenda 21, adopted by the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 3 to 14 June 1992 (E/CN.6/1995/5/Add.6); (g) Excerpts from the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, adopted at the World Conference on Human Rights, held at Vienna from 14 to 25 June 1993 (E/CN.6/1995/5/Add.7); (h) Report of the International Conference on Population and Development (A/CONF.171/13 and Add.1), held at Cairo from 5 to 13 September 1994. -----
