The National Commission on Women's Affairs (NCWA) and the Council of Ministers considered reports from both the official Thai Delegation and Government-supported NGOs delegation on their participation at the Conference. Among the recommendations of these reports is that the national machinery for women's development be upgraded, in line with the Beijing Declaration, and a working group has begun to consider the steps needed to upgrade the ONCWA to departmental status. 2. The Office of the National Commission on Women's Affairs (ONCWA has been translating the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action into Thai for publication and dissemination to government agencies, non-government organizations and concerned parties. 3. The NCWA has established an Ad hoc Sub-Committee to draw up Thailand's Plan of Action to be integrated with Thailand's Perspective Policies and Planning for the Development of Women (1992-2011). The result has been submitted to the Ad hoc SubCommittee on the Preparation of the Women's Development Plan during the period of the 8th National Economic and Social Development Plan. 4. The ONCWA will conduct a meeting for 100 participants for interested and relevant agencies to seek their views on the Platform for Action and Thailand's Plan of Action. 5. The ONCWA will conduct a meeting for 500 representatives from organizations involved with women's affairs, both government and non-government, on Thailand's Plan of Action and its implementation. 6. The ONCWA will conduct seminars for 300 local and grassroots Women's leaders in the principal cities of the four main regions of Thailand to enlist grassroots support for the Plan of Action. It is hoped that after this seminar, community development activities will be consistent with the Plan of Action, and priority areas identified in it will receive additional attention where appropriate to local conditions. 7. The ONCWA has established the National Committee on Women's Labour and Social Welfare Development in order to observe relevant issues which have been brought to prominence both by the Platform for Action and increased concern about these issues in the Thai Community.
