The Conference will take place at the Beijing International Convention Center (BICC) on Beichendong Road in the Chaoyang District in northern Beijing. The first floor of the BICC will contain a 1,200 square meter press working area with 360 journalist work stations. These work stations cannot be reserved and will be available on an as needed/as available basis. A telecommunications center (available at commercial rates) and a press lounge are located in the same area. A second press working area of approximately 2,000 square metres with 400-600 work spaces will be located five minutes away at the Yuan Nan Hotel. Facilities will be similar to those in the BICC Press working area, and there will be a photo-processing room, coffee bar, and cafeteria. In the same area, there will be 200 working rooms for rent to overseas media organizations, as well as 60-80 larger spaces of variable size. All journalists wishing to cover the Conference must have appropriate accreditation. Confirmation on accreditation will be sent by mail or fax. All passes will be issued at the Conference site upon presentation of two forms of photo ID (passport, official national press pass, driver's license, work ID, etc.) Journalists applying for accreditation at the BICC for the first time should complete an application form, present a letter of assignment and two forms of photo ID. (86)(1) 522-1133 Fax (86)(1) 522 5329 Journalists Encounter On Saturday, 2 September and Sunday 3 September, a Journalists Encounter will be held for those journalists attending the Conference in order to acquaint them with the major issues and introduce them to the senior officials at the Conference. Journalists will also be informed on special events, logistical and security arrangements and other organizational details. The encounter will be held in the Press Briefing Room at the BICC and journalists will be required to present their accreditation passes for admittance. Daily Briefings Daily briefings by the Spokeswoman of the Conference will take place in the Press Briefing Room and will be conducted in English at 12 noon and in French at 12:30 p.m. Interpretation in Chinese will be provided. These briefings will provide information on daily and upcoming events. Documents Distribution The documents distribution area for journalists will be located next to the Press working area. All official documents, press releases, press kits and related material will be available at that location. Photo Services Photographic coverage of the Conference will be available at the BICC at commercial rates. Photographs will be displayed each day adjacent to the documents distribution counter. Television Television coverage of the plenary sessions, press conferences and other official meetings and events will be carried out by UNTV through China Central Television (CCTV). Closed-circuit television monitors located throughout the press working area will carry this coverage. This can also be seen at the NGO Forum. Radio Audio coverage will be available on full-track master recordings for radio producers. Facilities will be available for radio producers to take direct audio feed (i.e. by plugging-in to a distribution box) of both the language of the speaker (Floor) and the simultaneous interpretation in all official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish). Radio production facilities will be available at China Central Television. International Broadcast Centre CCTV will maintain an International Broadcast Centre (IBC) with radio, television and satellite facilities available at commercial rates at the CCTV Headquarters on Fuxing Avenue, approximately 15 kilometers from the BICC, in western Beijing. Live television and radio coverage will be available at the IBC.
