	Secretary-General of the Fourth World Conference on Women
	Visits Site of "NGO Forum on Women'95"
	on Second Day of Her Official Programme


	In recognition of the important role that non-
governmental organizations (NGOs) will play at the Fourth 
World Conference on Women, Mrs. Gertrude Mongella, Secretary-
General of the Conference, visited the site of the "NGO Forum 
on Women '95" at the Huairou Scenic Tourist Area on the 
morning of Tuesday, 29 August.  It was the second day of Mrs. 
Mongella's official programme for the Conference.  She was 
accompanied by Mrs. Li (Ms. Qin Xiaomei), the wife of Mr. Li 
Zhaoxing, the Vice Foreign Minister of the People's Republic 
of China and Deputy Head of the Chinese delegation to the 
Fourth World Conference on Women.

	Upon arrival at Huairou, Mrs. Mongella, Mrs. Li and Ms. 
Supatra Masdit, Convenor of the NGO Forum, met with 
journalists and made brief statements.  Mrs. Mongella thanked 
the All China Women's Federation and the NGO Forum organizing 
committee for their work in preparing Huairou as the venue for 
the Forum, and said that NGOs had a crucial role to play in 
the advancement of women.  Mrs. Mongella then toured the 
facilities and premises of the Forum.

	Mrs. Mongella will be one of the key speakers at the 
opening Ceremony of the Forum which will take place at the 
Olympic Stadium in central Beijing on Wednesday, 30 August, at 
5:00 p.m..  The theme of the Forum, which concludes on Friday, 
8 September, is "Look at the world through women's eyes".
