Summary
As world leaders prepare for the agreement on the new development agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, it is clear that having adequate data to know when a child is born, when they need a school place, when clinics and doctors are required, is critical for our ability to deliver on sustainable development.
Without accurate data, we cannot effectively monitor the Sustainable Development Goals. Today, big data and citizen-generated data can help us obtain real-time data to predict food crises, pinpoint a disease outbreak or identify the communities most vulnerable to climate change.
This event aims at bringing new partners together – governments, innovators, scholars and the private sector – to address and close these basic data gaps and produce new analytics that empower citizens and leaders alike to use the information to achieve inclusive growth and sustainable development.
