Supplemental Background Information
The General Committee of the Conference will consist of 23
vice-presidents and a rapporteur . President Vicente Fox of Mexico will chair
the General Committee. Each region will have five members on the conference bureau.
Each regional group has
been asked by the Co-Chairs of the Preparatory Committee to nominate their member states
for the Bureau by 20 February 2002.

The Co-Chairs of the Financing
for Development Preparatory Committee are :
H.E. Ms. Ruth Jacoby, Ambassador, Permanent Mission of Sweden to the
United Nations and
H.E. Mr. Shamshad Ahmad, Ambassador, Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations
The FfD Bureau Task Force
will recommend to the Bureau that invitations be extended to the Chair of the Preparatory
Committee for the World Summit on Sustainable Development and the Ministerial Co-chair of
the Global Environmental Facility Ministerial Seminar to report on these related
processes.
