20 September 1995, Nukus);assistance to the governments, NGOs and private sector in the activities targeted for implementation of the Agenda for the 21st
century at local, national and regional levels; coordination of the activities of the Ministries, institutions and organizations, international donors who participate
in elaboration and implementatioin of the programmes for sustainable development; elaboration of the national strategy on sustainable development and
proposals on reinforcing structures for its implementation; assistance to the national institutions to identify and solve the key issues of sustainable development
of the Republic of Uzbekistan; participation of Uzbekistan in the activities of the Regional Commission on Sustainable Development; assistance and
cooperation of the activities of the state institutions, NGOs and private sector representatives in elaboration and implementation of the long-term programmes
on resolving the Aral Sea Crisis according to the principles of sustainable developmentof the region; organization ofjoint activities with the international
organizations aimed at elaboration of: National Action Plan on environment and National Programmes on rational utilization of resources.
