The Ad Hoc Committee continued its general discussion of the item and heard statements by the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, the Secretary-General of the Agency for Cultural and Technical Co-operation, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Minister of the Environment of Argentina and Chairperson of the Conference of Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Rector of the United Nations University, the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.

The Ad Hoc Committee thus concluded its general discussion of agenda item 8.
