 E/2005/L.35 (adopted as res.2005/42)    ECOSOC Resolution: "United Nations Public-Private Alliance for Rural Development" on Dominican Republic (English / Español) 22 July 2005
This Resolution was proposed in the 2005 Substantive Session of ECOSOC by Jamaica on behalf of the G77 and China in order to include Dominican Republic as the second pilot country of the UN Public-Private Alliance. The Council adopted the resolution on 26 July 2005. (click here for the relevant press release: ECOSOC/6175)
 E/2005/L.27 (adopted as res.2005/45) ECOSOC Resolution: "Promoting an integrated approach to rural development in developing countries for poverty eradication and sustainable development" (English / Français) 27 July 2005
This Resolution, adopted during the 2005 Substantive Session of ECOSOC, among other issues, "decides to review the matter [of rural development] at its substantive session of 2008, and therefore requests the Secretary-General to submit a comprehensive report on the progress or lack thereof in the implementation of the ministerial declaration of the high-level segment of its substantive session of 2003 [E/2003/L.9] and of its resolution 2004/48, for consideration during the coordination segment of its substantive session of 2008."

ECOSOC Resolution: "United Nations Public-Private Alliance for Rural Development" on Madagascar (English / Français) 23 July 2004
This Resolution, adopted during the 2004 Substantive Session of ECOSOC, among other issues, "welcomes the initiative of the Government of Madagascar to serve as the pilot country for the United Nations Public-Private Alliance for Rural Development."

This resolution, among other issues, proposes recommendations on how to build a "Coordinated and integrated United Nations system approach to promoting rural development in developing countries, with due consideration to least developed countries, for poverty eradication
and sustainable development."

This General Assembly Resolution, among other issues, proposes recommendations on what to do in order to achieve firm Global Partnerships.
A58/3/Rev1 Ministerial Declaration on Rural Development (English / Français) 3 July 2003
This Ministerial Declaration, among other issues, states that the eradication of rural poverty and hunger is critical to the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals, including the MDG's, and thus the Declaration suggests "rural development should be an integral part of national and international development policies, including bilateral donor response strategies and the activities and programmes of the United Nations system."
