CDP Secretariat participates in UNCTAD's LDC-IV pre-conference event (27-29 October)

 

On 27 to 29 October 2010 the CDP Secretariat participated in a meeting organized by UNCTAD on building productive capacities in LDCs for inclusive and sustainable development. The purpose of the meeting was to provide insight to member States regarding the preparations of LDC IV in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting was divided into four sessions.

Session I: Addressing key issues in building productive capacities in LDCs.
Session II: The role of trade in the development of productive capacities.
Session III: Building productive capacities in LDCs through FDI and domestic enterprise development.
Session IV: The contributions of science and technology innovation and trade logistics for building productive capacities in LDCs.

The CDP Secretariat participated as a Discussant and made a statement in the session on the role of trade in the development of productive capacities. Details about the CDP's upcoming Information Portal on International Support Measures for LDCs and its recently published Policy Note on Strengthening International Support Measures for LDCs were distributed during the meeting.
