Welcome to the United Nations. It's your world.

 United Nations Secretary-General's Campaign
to End Violence Against Women

Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon
There is no blanket approach to fighting violence against women. Each nation must devise its own strategy. But there is one universal truth, applicable to all countries, cultures and communities: violence against women is never acceptable, never excusable, never tolerable.

UNiTE brings together a host of UN offices and agencies to end violence against women:

Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality [IANWGE]

IANWGE is a network of Gender Focal Points in United Nations offices, specialized agencies, funds and programmes. The Network has played a central role in promoting gender equality throughout the United Nations system and in follow-up to the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995 and the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly (Beijing +5) in 2000.The Network also monitors and coordinates the mainstreaming of gender perspectives in the normative operational work of the UN system.
