Knut Storberget

Knut Storberget has been a protector of the vulnerable for many years, as well as being politically active.
Mr. Storberget graduated with a law degree from the University of Oslo in 1990. From 1992 he practised as a lawyer until he was elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 2001, and became a member of the Standing Committee on Justice. In 2002 he earned the entitlement to plead before the Supreme Court.
Mr. Storberget became Minister of Justice and the Police of Norway in 2005 and is currently in his second term. Since taking office, he has made ending violence against women a top priority for the Norwegian government. In June 2009, he hosted a Council of Europe conference on the topic, “Breaking the silence – united against domestic violence”.
