Gary Cohen
Gary Cohen is executive vice president of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a global medical technology company with 29,000 employees in 50 countries. He founded Together for Girls, a partnership comprised of five UN agencies, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Department of State and the private sector, to address the human rights and public health impacts of sexual violence against girls.
Mr. Cohen serves as board chair of the CDC Foundation and board director of the Perrigo Company, U.S. Fund for UNICEF, GBCHealth and Accordia Global Health Foundation. He also serves as a Commissioner for the UN Commission on Life Saving Commodities for Women and Children, and an advisor to the Clinton Global Initiative.
Mr. Cohen has been a speaker and expert panelist in venues including the UN, World Bank, World Economic Forum (Davos), U.S. Department of State, and Council on Foreign Relations. He has been honored for his humanitarian work by MESAB (Medical Education for South African Blacks), B’nai B’rith International, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, the Nyumbani Home for HIV positive orphans, and the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation.
He earned a BA from Rutgers College and a MBA from the Rutgers Business School, and previously served on the university’s Board of Trustees.
