Web Services Section: Design, development, multilingualism and accessibility.
The Web Services Section plays a key role in DPI's mission of promoting global awareness and understanding of the work of the UN through the design, development and presentation of the United Nations website. As part of this work, the Section updates content on major parts of www.un.org and creates web pages for priority themes and events, as well as international conferences and commemorative dates. It also manages the Internet presence for the General Assembly and the Security Council and provides guidance and assistance to Secretariat offices, where possible, in creating and enhancing their websites in all official languages. It coordinates and manages the content of the Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish versions of the UN site and ensures that newly created sites are accessible to disabled persons.
What we do
We plan, build, test, launch, and maintain United Nations websites following the highest standards of web creation. We also brand our websites and give them a consistent look and feel.
In order to make information available to the widest range of audiences, we actively ensure that United Nations websites are accessible for persons with disabilities.
An essential factor in harmonious communication among peoples, multilingualism is of particular importance for us. We extend multilingualism beyond our website to reach social media platforms in five languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.
