The UN Victims of Terrorism Support Portal was launched during the President of the General Assembly high-level side event on conditions conducive to the spread of terrorism, as part of the General Assembly’s fourth review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. Mr. Mohammad Younus and Mr. Jason Pronyck, victims of the bombing of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq in 2003, spoke during the event at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, on 11 June 2014.
Interactive dialogue - An exit for extremists: digital solutions for online counter-radicalization, 16 June 2015, UNHQ, New York
In order to better understand how to counter online radicalization, the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre and the Digital Diplomacy Coalition (DDC), New York Chapter, co-hosted an interactive panel entitled “An exit for extremists: Digital solutions for online counter-radicalization”. The panel discussed how to address the extremist narrative online without limiting the basic rights of freedom of speech and access to information.
Secretary-General’s Symposium on International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation
The Secretary-General’s Symposium on International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation was organized by the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force Office (CTITF) in partnership with the Executive Office of the Secretary-General and the constituent CTITF entities on 19 September 2011, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The closing session presented a Chairman’s Summary of the key findings from the Symposium and eminent speakers’ statements on the way forward in the implementation of the Global Strategy.
