CTED Executive Director strongly condemns killing of two UNODC consultants
Mr. Jean-Paul Laborde, Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate, condemned in the strongest possible terms the recent killing of two UNODC consultants at Galkayo Airport in Somalia.
In a letter to Mr. Yuri Fedotov, Executive Director of the UNODC, he expressed his profound sadness at this tragic loss of life and conveyed his deepest sympathies both to all his colleagues and to the families and friends of those who lost their lives.
Mr. Laborde also condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including acts against staff of the United Nations, and urged that the perpetrators be swiftly brought to justice.
UNODC, a close partner of CTED, provides technical assistance to Member States including in the area of counter-terrorism legislative drafting. Mr. Laborde himself once served as Chief of its Terrorism Prevention Branch.
