Kadiatou Thiero, 1959 - 2011
Kadiatou Thiero, a national of Mali, worked for the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC).
She died on 4 April 2011 aboard a UN plane which had been on a flight from the north-eastern city of Kisangani. The plane crashed at about 1:30 p.m. as it tried to land amid heavy rain and high winds, at N’Djili airport in Kinshasa (DRC).
Kadiatou joined the Mission in 2005 where she served as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Electoral Division.
Prior to joining the Mission, Kadiatou worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mali.
A graduate of the École des Hautes Études Pratiques in Mali, Kadiatou held an undergraduate degree in Personnel Administration. She was working on completing a Masters Degree at the Université du Mali.
Kadiatou is survived by her husband.
