Major K M Ziaul Haque, a national of Bangladesh, was a peacekeeper serving the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).He was 39 years old.

He died on 4 April 2011 aboard a UN plane which had been on a flight from the north-eastern city of Kisangani. The plane crashed as it tried to land amid heavy rain and high winds, at N’Djili airport in Kinshasa (DRC).

Major Haque was sent to the DRC on 28 April 2010 and was scheduled to return to Bangladesh in October 2011. Right before the tragedy, he called his wife telling her that he would return in May for a short while.

He joined the Bangladesh army in 1990 as a Second Lieutenant after obtaining his Higher Secondary Certificate from Jhenidah Cadet College. He served as a UN peacekeeper in Kuwait for a year in 2000.

Major K M Ziaul Haque is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
