Renewal of Accreditation
Each journalist seeking to renew his/her accreditation must submit the three main requirements below for approval consideration:
- Letter of Assignment: A new / current / up-to-date letter of assignment on official letterhead of the requesting media organization signed by the Publisher, Editor-in-Chief, Assignment Editor or Company Official for each and every renewal.
- Samples / Clippings: Whether submitted from the media organization or individual pass holder, all applicants are required to provide samples / clippings / review materials per their branch of media corresponding to the nature of their work of the coverage they conducted at the United Nations within the last 6-months for the organization to which they are accredited under, as part of the approval procedure, submitted in advance with the Assignment Letter via emails (with links or attached files limited to 6 megabytes maximum total), faxes, CD/DVDs (with scanned documents, videos and audio files) are accepted.
Correspondents* status applicants are reqired to provide a minimum of:
• Print & Online/Internet-based media - three (3) by-lined or credited articles
• Radio / TV - three (3) broadcast reports
• Photographers - three (3) published & credited photographic clippings / tearsheets.* U.N. Resident Correspondents - eight (8) of the aforementioned requirements in correspondence with their media branch for the renewal review process to qualify to retain their resident status.

a) Maintenance of your existing registered information by editing your profile to keep the personal & professional information current and...
b) Submitting the Request for Renewal of the online profile form, certifying the information has been reviewed and is up-to-date.

Media support staff, such as cameramen, soundmen, information technology engineers, producers, associate producers, associate reporters and technicians can submit the work of the reporter to which they contributed their services to support their accreditation request.
Since 2006 all applicants have been required to register online with a personal accreditation account. If you have previously been issued a UN Media ID card since then you would most certainly have a registered account and must log for maintenance of the account and submition of the request for renewal, certifying the information has been reviewed by you and is correct for further processing.
When the assignment letter has been reviewed, a confirmation email or related instructions will be sent to the registered email address on the account - typically within 72 hours of receipt of the letter of assignment. Should a [business] week traspire where you have not heard back from our service, please contact us (see bottom of page) to check on the status of the request. We discourage applicants from coming in before receiving our transmissions which may which contain specific instructions related directly with their application and status.
