The office of the Capital Master Plan (CMP) manages the historic renovation of the United Nations Headquarters Complex in New York City.
Constructed between 1949 and 1952, the landmark building complex is seen all over the world as the symbol of the United Nations itself. It set standards as a unique example of modernist, international style architecture.
During the five-year project from 2008 to 2013, the facilities of the UN compound are undergoing modernization to become a safer, more sustainable and more secure work environment that provides better physical accessibility. At the same time, the character-defining features of its architecture will be restored.
