Ms. Atefeh Riazi, a United States national born in Iran, is Chief Information Technology Officer, Assistant Secretary-General, Office of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Management. Ms. Riazi has wide-ranging experience in the public and private sector, with a focus on leading complex organizational change involving large departments in challenging environments to deliver vital business transformation through the use of innovation and technology.
The Office of Information Communication Technology (OICT) is responsible for defining strategic direction for Information Communication Technology (ICT) to the Secretariat. The Office provides oversight of ICT programmes, budgets and decision-making.
The United Nations' ICT strategy (A/69/517) defines the roadmap for Information Communication Technology for the global Secretariat, for the next five years. The strategy provides a common vision for ICT delivery in the United Nations through modernization, transformation and innovation. It establishes a framework for improved governance, strong leadership and optimal use of ICT resources to support effective decision-making.
