Ben KiernanBen Kiernan (Australia) is an expert on the study of genocide and crimes against humanity. He is the A. Whitney Griswold Professor of History, as well as Professor of International and Area Studies and Director of the “Genocide Studies Program” at Yale University (United States). He was founding Director of the University’s “Cambodian Genocide Program” (1994-1999) and Convenor of the Yale East Timor Project (2000-2002).

Professor Kiernan is the author and editor of many books and articles on South-East Asia and the history of genocide, including Blood and Soil: A World History of Genocide and Extermination from Sparta to Darfur, published in 2007. According to Yale University Press, Professor Kiernan’s writings “have transformed our understanding not only of twentieth century Cambodia but also of the historical phenomenon of genocide”.
