Michael (Mickey) Goldmann
Holocaust survivor and former Israeli Police Officer Michael Goldmann was a member of Bureau 06, the code name for the special police unit set up to investigate Adolf Eichmann after his arrest by Mossad agents in Argentina in 1960. He served as personal aide to Gideon Hausner, the Israeli attorney general who led Eichmann’s prosecution. Born in Poland in 1925, Mr. Goldmann lost his entire family during the Holocaust. He survived the camps at Belzec and Auschwitz, escaped from the Nazis’ forced death march of Auschwitz prisoners as Western troops moved to liberate survivors, and ultimately served time in a British detention camp in Cyprus before moving to Israel. After leaving the police service in 1963, Mr. Goldmann continued to work with the Israeli Government in various special missions until his retirement in 1995.
