The Sixth Committee is the primary forum for the consideration of legal questions in the General Assembly. All of the United Nations Member States are entitled to representation on the Sixth Committee as one of the main committees of the General Assembly.

Status of international legal instruments relating to the prevention and suppression of international terrorism
As noted in the Report of the Secretary-General on Measures to eliminate international terrorism (A/68/180 para. 102), there are currently 40 instruments, 18 universal (14 instruments and 4 recent amendments) and 22 regional, pertaining to the subject of international terrorism.
