Readout of the President of the General Assembly’s meeting with H. E. Mr. Titus Corlatean, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Romania

The President of the General Assembly, H. E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Mr. Titus Corlatean, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Romania. They discussed the post-2015 Development Agenda as well as other issues before the United Nations. The Foreign Minister pointed out that Romania shared President Ashe’s objectives for the post-2015 development agenda. He also highlighted Romania’s other interests in sustainable development as a Member of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, and non-proliferation. He assured President Ashe of Romania’s confidence in him to make the sixty-eighth session a success and extended his delegation’s full support.
The Foreign Minister and President Ashe also discussed the Syrian crises. The Foreign Minister expressed concerns over the Syrian crises and addressed the prospects for a Security Council resolution. President Ashe shared his hope for a consensus resolution on Syria and for the process to move toward implementation.
President Ashe encouraged Romania’s active participation in the sixty-eighth session including its involvement in the High-level event on Human Rights and the Rule of Law.
