President Ashe meets with H. H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Crown Prince of Qatar
The President of the General Assembly met today with H. H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Crown Prince of Qatar.
The Crown Prince underscored the need for the United Nations and the Security Council to have a more prominent role in resolving the conflict in Palestine. He noted that Israel’s recent actions are not conducive to peace. He underscored that settlements must end and Israel must accept the 1967 borders. The Crown Prince stressed the need for further international pressure.
The PGA recognized Qatar’s role as a peace broker. The Crown Prince reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to furthering peace efforts in the region and offered Qatar’s support for reform of the General Assembly and the Security Council.
The Crown Prince announced that his government had committed 0.54 percent of its GDP to development projects. The Crown Prince expressed support for all of the PGA’s efforts. The PGA encouraged the active participation of Qatar in the post-2015 process.
