Readout of the President of the General Assembly’s meeting with H.M. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA)

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.M. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).
Queen Maxima discussed the prospects for incorporating financial inclusion into the Post-2015 Development Agenda. In particular, she highlighted how financial inclusion can be an accelerator and enabler of equitable economic growth, job creation, social and human development and for the mechanism of Financing for Development. She also suggested that inclusive financial systems could be considered a critical infrastructure for any given country.
She offered her support to President Ashe’s initiatives; namely, to the thematic debates on the Contributions of Women, the Young and Civil Society and of South-South, Triangular Cooperation, and ICT for Development in the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
President Ashe welcomed this support, and expressed interest in, and encouraged the UNSGSA participation at the High-level Event on the Role of Partnerships.
