Readout of the President of the General Assembly’s meeting with H. E. Mr. Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Mr. Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta. They discussed the post 2015 development agenda, migration and development, and the ways in which the international community can better address challenges that countries in the Horn of Africa face. The Prime Minister expressed Malta’s firm commitment to work on these various issues in a constructive and inclusive manner and offered his delegation’s full support to the President of the General Assembly
President Ashe thanked the Prime Minister for his government’s support and commended Malta for its historical leadership in placing climate change and the law of the sea on the multilateral agenda. He looked forward to Malta’s continued leadership and active participation in the work of the United Nations.
