The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Mr. Ranko Krivokapić, President of the Parliament of Montenegro, also serving as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Mr. Krivokapic discussed priority areas of the OSCE Parliament which he noted coincided with priorities of the United Nations in peace, security and democracy. In response to a question from the President, Mr. Krivokapic explained the OSCE Election Observation Programme.
The President, noting Montenegro's experience and particularly that of Mr. Krivokapic, a nine-time elected Parliamentarian, encouraged Montenegro to actively participate in a forthcoming thematic debate on Ensuring Stable and Peaceful Societies in the Post-2015 Developing Agenda to be held during the 68th session.
